Inside Wireperson Apprenticeship Information

A brief description of school and work requirements for electrical apprentices:

SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) Years of Adult Evening School

Students will attend Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.  Classes are held three nights per week. September through June.  Apprentice must maintain a grade of 80 or better.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Apprentice will be required to complete 8000 hours on-the-job training to become Journeyman Electrician.

  1. 8 hour day
  2. 40 hour work week.
  3. Apprentice will be required to furnish small tools as listed by the apprenticeship committee.

Upon satisfactory completion of one year of school and work, apprentice will be sworn in as an IBEW member.

Any of the above requirements are subject to change by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee or Local Union #456.
